The book
The World Is Flat 3.0: A Brief History of the Twenty-first Century
by Thomas L. Friedman actually first came out in 2005, and became a best seller. The book is now on Release 3.0 which includes two new chapters, one on how to be a social entrepreneur in a flat world, and on how to manage your reputations and privacy in a world where everything is becoming more public.
What does a flattening world mean? It means globalization, it means the world is becoming more equal in terms of economic opportunity, it means communication capability is increasing around the world. According to Friedman, the ten forces that flattened the world are as follows:

The author has a way of making the discussion of economics and global technology interesting. He gives numerous examples of real life stories to make his points.
