The Forecloser

This video, created by The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, puts a humorous spin on a true but terrible story about a couple who received a foreclosure notice from a major bank, even though they didn't have a mortgage with the bank. As a matter of fact, they paid cash for the house.

They got help from a rookie lawyer who had only been practicing for eight months, sued the bank, and won, and showed up at a branch office to take assets (Furniture, computers, etc.) in order to satisfy their claim against the bank.

Homeowner Gets Foreclosed On Even Though He Didn't Have a Mortgage

I tried to shorten this title but couldn't. I even left a significant part of the story out. A couple in Naples Florida paid cash for their home, and never had a mortgage on their property. Yes, according to the report, Bank of America foreclosed on their home!!!

The couple had to hire an attorney to fight the foreclosure, then won, then asked for and won the right to recover attorney's fees. However, after numerous requests to the bank for reimbursement, and getting no response, the couple and their attorney decided to foreclose on the bank. They sent the sheriff to a local branch to confiscate cash from the teller's drawers, computers, and furniture to cover the legal fees. The bank finally relented and produced a check for all costs and attorney's fees.

Ron Paul's House is For Sale

Ron Paul is a medical doctor, a Congressman, and libertarian (but Republican registered) presidential candidate in 2008. He was the second most searched for person back in September of 2007 after Paris Hilton. Supposedly, in the primaries, he received more votes from the 18 to 25 year olds than any other candidate, Republican or Democrat. (What is ironic is that he was the oldest candidate at the time.)

Now his house is up for sale in Lake Jackson, Texas for $325,000. The size is about 5,500 square feet with 4 bedrooms, 2 with lofts, 5 bathrooms, and an oversize pool. This has generated a lot of interest from those that want to use it as a libertarian retreat, a libertarian museum, or just a nice home to live in just ten minutes from the beach.
